Tim Bray Theatre Company, founded in Auckland in 1993, is committed to teaching drama and stagecraft to individuals of all ages, from children to adults. In this blog, we explore how Tim Bray Theatre Company’s unique class offerings helps to shape their community through making their programmes more accessible. As well as how Tim Bray’s quick thinking and strategic pivoting supported the continued growth of their business through challenging economic times.

Accessible Performance and Arts Programmes
Under the passionate leadership of founder Tim Bray, the company fosters creativity and self-confidence in a welcoming space for children of all backgrounds. From puppetry to improvisation, kids learn skills that are essential for creative thinking, teamwork, and self-expression. Through their Gift a Seat™ programme, Tim Bray Theatre Company also ensures that children who may not have access to live theatre can enjoy these experiences. With seats sponsored by corporate and individual donors, they can experience and engage with theatre without barriers such as cost or accessibility, Gift a Seat™ also provides scholarships for their Youth Theatre programme.
Their team of tutors offer weekly drama classes and their immensely popular holiday programme Hit the Stage! for children and teenagers which ends with a devised performance. This immersion in drama helps kids build the confidence and skills to audition and even participate in professional productions.
Shaping the Future of Performing Arts with Enrolmy's Support
Like many kids activity providers over the last few years, Tim Bray Theatre Company has come up against significant industry and economic challenges. With families facing the aftermath of COVID and financial struggles, Tim Bray has managed to keep their business and team afloat amidst many class cancellations and postponed shows.
They kept the show going - online! Tim Bray quickly transitioned to Zoom-based classes. A feat in itself, having to change up their regular curriculum, figure out how to create engaging classes online and ensure all their team and students had the technology and access to their resources.
The company relied on Enrolmy to manage bookings and communication for these new virtual offerings. The ease of remote class management, paired with Enrolmy’s payment and refund options, allowed them to stay connected with their community.
As Tim Bray Theatre Company looks toward the future, they plan to keep virtual classes in their lineup, making the performing arts accessible to even more families. With Enrolmy’s reliable tools, they’re able to focus on the core of their mission. They aim to make theatre accessible to everyone, championing inclusion and the transformative power of children’s theatre.
